The Weight of Wonder

A unique WonderLust Object by Margreet Blaas

Some things cannot be hurried.

A child gently cradles a turtle while resting upon a cow—symbols of innocence, patience and quiet strength. Together they balance on an ornate architectural fragment supported by cherubs, while another turtle quietly anchors the composition below.

Created from vintage porcelain and carefully selected found objects, The Weight of Wonder explores the beauty of slowing down. Every fragment once belonged to another life, carrying its own history and memories. Reimagined together, they become part of a new narrative where symbolism, imagination and craftsmanship meet.

Rather than telling a fixed story, this assemblage invites the viewer to pause and discover one of their own. It celebrates the unexpected connections that emerge when forgotten objects are given a second life and transformed into contemporary art.

Handcrafted by Dutch artist Margreet Blaas, every WonderLust Object is entirely unique. No editions. No replicas. Just one original artwork that cannot be repeated.

Whether displayed in a private collection, a gallery or a thoughtfully curated interior, The Weight of Wonder offers a quiet invitation to look more closely—and to rediscover the extraordinary hidden within ordinary things.

A Note from the Artist

"I never begin with a finished story. I collect forgotten porcelain fragments until they seem to recognise one another. At some point they stop being objects and become characters. WonderLust Objects are my way of giving overlooked treasures another life—allowing them to tell a story that did not exist before."
