The Pearl Keeper

A tiny horse follows a trail into a forgotten porcelain world.

Some treasures were never meant to be owned.
Only protected.

Guided by quiet curiosity, the little horse wanders into an abandoned teacup where time seems to have stood still. Scattered pearls lie waiting, untouched, as if someone once promised to keep them safe.

Perhaps they are memories.

Perhaps they are dreams.

Or perhaps they belong to no one at all.

Created from vintage porcelain and carefully selected found objects, The Pearl Keeper celebrates the beauty of discovery and the quiet wonder of forgotten things. Every fragment once belonged to another story. Together they form a new narrative, one that remains open to the imagination of its viewer.

Handcrafted by Dutch artist Margreet Blaas, this WonderLust Object is completely unique. No editions. No replicas. Just one original artwork where forgotten porcelain begins a new life.

Artist's Note

Some objects seem to find each other.

When I discovered the tiny porcelain horse, I immediately imagined it wandering into a forgotten teacup, quietly guarding something precious. The pearls became symbols rather than objects—not treasures to possess, but treasures to protect.

I rarely begin with a fixed plan. Instead, I collect vintage porcelain and forgotten fragments, allowing each piece to suggest its own story. The Pearl Keeper grew in exactly that way, one unexpected discovery at a time.

For me, this work is about curiosity, quiet wonder and the beauty of things that reveal themselves slowly. I hope it invites you to pause for a moment and create your own story.
